This intensive hike will take you from the town of Chalten, through beech forests and winding streams, culminating in a challenging section of the steepest trail, leading to a glacial lake at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters. There, the majestic Mount Fitz Roy will stand almost vertically before you, its reflection shimmering in the azure glacial lake. This is a test of both physical strength and willpower, but the reward will be some of the most magnificent and breathtaking mountain scenery in South America.

Itinerary Itinerary

Morning: Set off at dawn into the wilderness

Hotel pick-up — Crossing the Patagonian Wilderness:
We were picked up by a private car in El Calafate in the early morning.
Surrounded by stunning views of the Andes Mountains and lakes, head along the legendary Highway 40 to Chalten, the starting point of the hike.

Beech Forest Trekking—Traversing a Pristine and Secret Realm:
The hike officially began upon arrival in Chalten.
The first part of the journey is relatively gentle, and you will travel through dense primeval beech forests, where you can see the majestic silhouettes of Torre and FitzRoy peaks appearing and disappearing in the distance.

Afternoon: Cross the ridge to reach the tranquil glacial lake

The Last Mile of Looking Up—A Test of Willpower
Entering the most crucial and challenging section of the hike, the steep uphill section.
This route is extremely physically demanding, but the moment you cross the ridge, FitzRoy Peak will appear before you like a giant up close, a sight that is indescribably awe-inspiring.

Laguna de los Tres — Embracing the pinnacle of legend:
Arrive at the destination, Laguna de los Tres (Ice Lake).
You will have ample time to enjoy lunch in front of FitzRoy, wash away your fatigue, and capture precious moments in front of the once-in-a-lifetime "Patagonia Logo" view.

Evening: Strolling down the mountain, returning home laden with our spoils.

We slowly descended the mountain along the same route.

Return to Elcalafat—The Final Chapter of a Perfect Adventure
In the evening, we took a private car back to the hotel.
With the sense of accomplishment of conquering legendary peaks and stunning photos, this epic hiking adventure came to a perfect end.

Approximately 15 hours journey — Important Notes

Physical fitness requirements: This is a challenging hike, approximately 20 kilometers round trip, taking about 8-9 hours in total. Participants must be in good physical condition.

Equipment Recommendations: We strongly recommend wearing sturdy hiking boots, a moisture-wicking inner layer, a warm mid-layer, and a waterproof jacket.

Weather variables: If strong winds or snowfall cause road closures, the tour guide will assess and adjust the itinerary to ensure safety.
